Emergency crews responding to fatal house fire in Hinchinbrook

Two people have died following a house fire in Sydney’s south west this morning.

About 5.40am (Sunday 24 July 2022), emergency services were called to a home on Rottnest Avenue, Hinchinbrook, after reports of a house well alight.

Six occupants, including a child, were evacuated from the home and were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

Two people died at the scene, both are yet to be formally identified.

The child was transported to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a serious condition.

The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW.

Officers from Liverpool Police Area Command established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist forensic police.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire is underway and the cause is yet to be determined.

Reports will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
