Emergency crews responding to house fire in Dirranbandi, QLD

Police are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a house in Dirranbandi overnight.

Around 9.50pm the 39-year-old male resident, and sole occupant of the Lignum Avenue address, was alerted to the smell of smoke.

Attempts to extinguish the fire failed and the house become well involved.

The house was destroyed however emergency services prevented the blaze from spreading to adjacent properties. A neighbouring house sustained scorch damage to a side wall.

The man was taken to Dirranbandi Hospital suffering smoke inhalation.

A crime scene has been established and forensic examinations will occur later today.
