Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) in relation to a gas leak in Cairns.
The declaration was issued at 11.03am, after a gas pipe was inadvertently cut at a work site in Spence Street.
The affected area is; Spence Street, Grafton Street, Hartley Street and Lake Street.
Motorists and pedestrians are urged to avoid the area until further advised.
