Emergency message – Get Vaxxed!

Minister for Police and Corrective Services and Minister for Fire and Emergency Services The Honourable Mark Ryan

Thousands of frontline emergency vehicles will carry a message urging all Queenslanders to get vaccinated.

Fire trucks, police vehicles, SES vehicles and ambulances will be adorned with the magnetised messages.

The message on the stickers is simple but poignant, “Our job saves lives, your jab saves lives”.

Joining Queensland Vaccine Operations Coordinator, Acting Deputy Commissioner Shane Chelepy, Emergency Services Minister, Mark Ryan, said the initiative was a great way to get the vaccination message out to the community.

“Our emergency response vehicles are out in the community every day.

“Across Queensland there are more than 6,000 frontline response vehicles.

“There is a real urgency to this vaccination rollout.

“The COVID clock is ticking, COVID is coming.

“We want everyone vaccinated before the borders open and the virus arrives.

“The benefits of vaccination are real and clear.

“A vaccinated person has an 86 percent less chance of being infected with the virus and passing it on.

“A vaccinated person has a 90 percent less chance of dying from the effects of COVID.

“I urge everyone to follow the advice of our frontline responders.

“Just as they save lives, your jab will save lives,” the Minister said.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Chelepy said Queenslanders had done so well over the last 18 months, but it was very important everyone keeps up the good work and gets vaccinated. “We will see more COVID-19 coming into Queensland once the borders open and we cannot protect you from the virus if you won’t protect yourself. “There is no reason to delay receiving the vaccine, there is plenty of supply and various locations across Queensland to get vaccinated.

“Anyone over the age of 12 is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine and can either walk in or book at any Queensland Health Vaccination Location, your local pharmacy or trusted General Practitioner.

“Vaccination is our pathway out of this pandemic, so I call on every Queenslander to get vaccinated as soon as possible.”
