Emergency Services Volunteer Memorial Service

On the second Sunday in October each year, a memorial is held to remember those volunteers who have died while protecting their communities.

Hosted in Sydney, the Emergency Services Volunteer Memorial Service is a time to remember the sacrifices of volunteers from NSW State Emergency Service, NSW Rural Fire Service, Volunteer Rescue Association and Marine Rescue.

Since NSW State Emergency Service was created, 12 selfless and dedicated volunteers have lost their lives while serving their communities. Each of their names feature on the memorial, which is on Mrs Macquaries Road, Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney.

This year’s event will be held on Sunday 11 October 2020 from 11am (start streaming from 10:55am). However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance to this year’s memorial is strictly limited.

To help connect people with the event, it will be broadcast live online below.
