The silver screen is a medium for storytelling unlike any other, and last year’s capacity crowds at the 2022 Boroondara Seniors Film Festival showed this.
This year’s Seniors Film Festival (taking place in October) will be open to submissions from the public, with an emphasis on getting older adults actively involved along the way.
Making a film submission
This year, members of the community can submit a film, for the chance to have their creation screened for audiences as part of the official Boroondara Seniors Film Festival line-up.
Filmmakers can submit their films from 9 am on Monday 3 July to 11:59 pm on Friday 18 August 2023.
Film submissions will be subject to a review by the film festival panel in September, and winning entrants will be notified by email by Friday 29 September.

Film festival workshops
Thank you to everyone who has joined us so far for our Seniors Film Festival workshops. These affordable or free of charge workshops are designed to unlock the secrets of “movie magic”, by exploring topics like:
- creating video montage on iPhones and iPads
- bringing “still” images to life in video
- storytelling in print and film
- animation for beginners
- a local history tour of Lido Cinemas.
