Local art will shine as West Gippsland Arts Centre welcomes your masterpieces for the 2024 artist exhibition program.

Each year, West Gippsland Arts Centre offers artists and creatives from all disciplines a platform to explore and exhibit their work in a public domain. The opportunity is available to all artists via expressions of interest, with submissions now being accepted for the 2024 program.

Successful artists will be exhibited across prominent spaces in the entry level and upper level foyers. Each exhibition will run between 4 to 8 weeks and are open to the public free of charge. Artists will be promoted on West Gippsland Arts Centre’s website and social media, offering a fantastic opportunity for new artists and new viewers alike to discover one another.

Over the past 12 months, West Gippsland Arts Centre has had the pleasure of showcasing exhibits including:

  • Jill Harris’s Journey of Colours.
  • Hannah Dunn’s Something is Peering In
  • Lucy Chapman’s Nature – Surrealism, Winter Journey & Botanical Reflections
  • Luke John Matthew Arnold’s Don’t Hide That Pride

“Here in Baw Baw Shire, we have an incredibly talented arts community and we know how important it is that they get the support they need to get their work out in public where it can be seen,” says Mayor of Baw Baw Shire Cr Annemarie McCabe. “We are so proud to offer this fantastic program at our renowned West Gippsland Arts Centre and shine a spotlight on emerging local artists and our creative community.”

“I have had the pleasure of attending several openings and have seen firsthand how inspiring and thought provoking these exhibitions can be. I’ve also seen how they can give under-exhibited artists a real platform to connect with an audience that may not know they are out there. Whether art is your hobby, passion or career, I encourage you to seize this opportunity and submit an expression of interest. You never know where it may lead.”

How to submit an expression of interest

Interested artists are encouraged to submit their expression of interest via this short online form.

Submissions for the 2024 exhibition program will be accepted until the close of business on Friday 13 October.

All expressions of interest will be reviewed with up to 12 exhibits chosen by Council and the Arts and Culture Advisory Committee to feature in the 2024 program.

Exhibitions may run over multiple months depending on their size and their levels of community engagement.
