Byron Shire Council is looking for Expressions of Interest from car share providers who are interested in making vehicles available for very short-term rental.
Council has been supporting a car share service since 2019, providing 12 designated parking spaces in Byron Bay and two in Mullumbimby for cars that are able to be booked at short notice, mirroring similar services available in cities.
The Byron Bay Town Centre Masterplan supports an approach that prioritises people over cars and a car sharing service that is available to locals and visitors is seen a way of providing alternative transport and travel options.
