Dumped industrial waste abandoned on a Williamstown roadside has become the subject of a new video with Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) asking for public assistance to track down a man, they believe, may be able to help them with their enquiries.
The waste, containing broken industrial waste and asbestos sheeting, was deliberately abandoned on the corner of Fink Street and Albermarle Street, Williamstown in January this year in a vehicle cargo tray.
Night time CCTV in Macaulay Street, Williamstown obtained by EPA investigators, shows a man they believe may be able to help identify the source of the dumped waste.
The video, released through social media, shows the man walking around what appears to be a white, dual cab ute before driving off.
“We’re hoping someone watching the video will recognise the man who we think will be able to help us identify who dumped the cargo tray,” said EPA CEO Lee Miezis.
“Illegal waste dumping is a crime all Victorians pay for. Instead of disposing of waste appropriately and responsibly, dumpers leave the cost of disposal with the public. That cargo tray was removed from Fink Street by council contractors and EPA would like to find the person who left it there, and hand them the bill.”
