Escape Custody In Alice Springs 14 March

Just before 3:00pm this afternoon three adult male prisoners pushed their way past a Correctional Officer and forced their way out of the Alice Springs Police Station Watch House.

An immediate police response recaptured all three men nearby, with the last man taken into custody at 3:41pm. The three men are being transferred to the Alice Springs Correctional Centre.

Acting Assistant Commissioner James Gray-Spence said, “The police response was immediate and the swift recapture of all three men ensured there was no danger to the public. No one was injured during the incident.

‘I want to thank the attending officers. Their quick action in apprehending the escaped prisoners was outstanding work and their dedication to keeping our community safe is commendable.”
