Motorists will soon enjoy smoother and safer travels on Cotton Tree Parade and The Esplanade, Maroochydore thanks to roadworks set to be carried out by Sunshine Coast Council from today (Monday 3 August 2020).
Division 4 Councillor Joe Natoli said the works were part of council’s Road Reseal and Rehabilitation Program and would take approximately three weeks to complete, weather and site conditions dependant.
“Council maintains more than 2200 kilometres of roads across our region through the Road Reseal and Rehabilitation Program to ensure they’re safe and serviceable for all road users,” Cr Natoli said.
“As part of this program, a large section of Cotton Tree Parade and The Esplanade will be resurfaced, kerb and channel replaced and line markings renewed during August.
“Cotton Tree Parade and The Esplanade is a heavily used stretch of road for residents, businesses and visitors and I’m very pleased that these important works will be delivered to provide an enhanced experience for everyone who travels through this area.
“I thank our community in advance for their patience while we undertake these crucial road improvements.
“I also encourage everyone to plan ahead before visiting the area, be sure to allow an extra 10 to 15 minutes for travel time while the roadworks are underway.”
The roadworks are scheduled to be completed in late August ahead of the busy September school holiday period.
Stages of work and timing (weather and site conditions dependant)
• Stage 1 (day works 7am – 5pm): Monday 3 to Friday 7 August, 2020 (removal and replacement of kerb and channel).
• Stage 2 (night works 6pm – 6am): Sunday 16 to Friday 21 August, 2020 (profiling and asphalting works).
• Stage 3 (night works 6pm – 6am): Sunday 23 to Tuesday 25 August, 2020 (reinstatement of road surface line marking and signage).
Traffic management measures will be in place while these works are in progress and the construction team will take care to minimise impacts on local residents and businesses wherever possible, for example, by minimising loud machinery after 10pm when possible and positioning lighting away from homes.
Residents and businesses will be able to access their homes and businesses during construction however delays may occur while machinery is in operation.
All directly impacted residents and businesses have been notified of the works, however are encouraged to contact council should they have any queries or concerns.
Off-street parking along Cotton Tree Parade and The Esplanade will not be available while works are in progress.
