Exciting changes are coming to Prahran

In 2022 we will be delivering the first of a series of new parklets, green spaces and people-friendly streets in the Mount Street area of Prahran.

In November 2019, Council adopted a masterplan for the Mount Street area of Prahran, that over a number of years will deliver interconnecting green spaces, pocket parks and attractive, tree lined, people-friendly streets.

Following adoption of the masterplan, more work was done to refine and develop detailed designs for the individual parks, green corridors and shared streets. Design development plans were presented to the community in September 2020 when their feedback was sought to inform the final designs. What we heard inspired changes such as more planting, more recycled materials for park furniture and pavements, extending the new road treatment, using solar lights in parks and more opportunities for public art.

We will shortly be appointing a construction contractor to complete the creation of Mouclif Park (the eastern portion), Bangs Park and Regent Street transformed into a people-first shared zone with underground power, wider footpaths, new road pavement and tree planting.

This is the first stage of the masterplan delivery, with future stages planned as budget permits.

Together with City of Stonnington funding, delivery of this project is supported by the Victorian Government under the Suburban Parks Program.
