Agriculture Victoria continues to support agricultural and pastoral societies to bring regional communities together, support local economies and promote Victorian agriculture.
Agriculture Victoria Chief Executive Beth Jones said as part of the latest round of Agricultural and Pastoral Society Grants, 46 successful organisations from across the state have been offered grants of up to $10,000.
‘Successful recipients will use their grants to strengthen Victoria’s agricultural communities through projects that provide new or upgraded facilities, enhance public amenities, upgrade essential infrastructure for electricity and water supply.
‘They can also be used to improve biosecurity and animal welfare, create spaces for social connection and promote First Nations cultural awareness and safety at agricultural shows,’ she said.
Donald & District Pastoral and Agricultural Society will use its grant to upgrade the Donald Recreation Reserve shearing shed, helping improve facilities for exhibitors, competitors and visitors.
Ms Jones said Victoria is home to more than 100 Agricultural and Pastoral Societies, which play an important role in regional communities by hosting shows, field days and events that celebrate local agriculture and bring communities together.
‘Agriculture Victoria plays a vital role in strengthening regional communities by supporting farmers and the businesses and industries that surround them.
‘Agricultural and pastoral societies are at the heart of regional Victorian communities and Agriculture Victoria is committed to giving them the support they need to thrive.
‘I see firsthand the positive impact that our state’s hard working Agricultural and Pastoral Societies have for regional communities,’ she said.
Funding for this initiative is supported through the Victorian Government’s Community Support Fund.
Another round of Agricultural and Pastoral Society Grant funding is now open, with eligible organisations encouraged to apply. Applications will close on Monday 23 November.
