If you’re planning to visit Sunshine Leisure Centre over the next few months you’ll notice a number of works underway.
From 19 June work will start on a new café to be introduced at reception; to convert the old café space into a merchandise area; and to replace flooring in the foyer.
From 1 July, the indoor leisure pool, spa and indoor change rooms will be temporarily closed for about six weeks so that essential maintenance works and renovations can be completed.
Mayor of Brimbank, Cr Lucinda Congreve said Sunshine Leisure Centre would remain open while works are undertaken and every effort would be made to minimise impacts on leisure centre users.
“We want to realise the full potential of Sunshine Leisure Centre and we’ve been making a number of improvements at the centre over recent times – and these are set to continue.
“We’ve introduced a year-round swimming trial in the outdoor pool; soon we’ll be introducing Spin classes; and we’re making improvements to provide 24/7 gym access later this year.
“Over the coming weeks anyone visiting the leisure centre will also notice some more immediate works underway so that we can provide a new café space at reception with additional seating, and a great new merchandise area.
“From July we’ll be undertaking some maintenance to the leisure pool and renovating the change rooms.
“While these works take place there will be no access to the leisure pool, spa and indoor change rooms, but everything else will still be open,” Cr Congreve said.
The 25m indoor pool, outdoor pool, gymnasium and group fitness room will stay open for business. The outdoor change rooms will be available for use – these have recently been upgraded for winter use.
Swimming lessons will be temporarily relocated to the 25m indoor pool.
In addition to these upcoming works, Council recently released a Draft Sunshine Leisure Centre Master Plan for community comment.
The Draft Master Plan is available to view online at www.brimbank.vic.gov.au/haveyoursay, at Brimbank Leisure Centres, Libraries and Customer Service Centres. Community feedback will be accepted until 5pm, 21 June 2019.
