Attention all young and budding artists!

The Hills Shire Council will hold the inaugural Creative Arts Competition, which is part of its upcoming Youth Week 2024 celebrations from 11-21 April.

Young people aged between 12-24 who work, study or reside in The Hills Shire, are invited to participate in this exciting competition to showcase their artistic talents.

The theme for the competition is ‘Connection and Identity’. Participants are encouraged to interpret this theme through their very own experience of living, working or studying in The Hills.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi, said this was an exciting opportunity for young people to showcase their talents.

“We want to connect and foster an engaged youth in The Hills, and I feel that the competition’s theme of ‘Connection and Identity’ will contribute towards achieving this,” Mayor Gangemi said.

“We have many talented young artists, and this is a fantastic way to showcase their creativity to a broader audience while also celebrating the contributions of young people to our community.

“We have some great prizes up for grabs, and I encourage all aspiring artists or young people with a creative flair to submit their artwork for their chance to win.”

Entries for the competition should be submitted through Council’s website, www.thehills.nsw.gov.au, by Thursday 4 April 2024.

Entrants are required to photograph their submissions and upload them alongside any relevant information.

A select panel of judges will then review the submitted entries.

The chosen entries will then be eligible for major prizes and will also be showcased in a special exhibition at the Youth Fall Festival on Thursday 18 April. This exhibition offers a unique platform for young artists to showcase their talents and gain recognition for their artwork.

Participants will also have the chance to win an array of exciting prizes, including a graphics tablet, Eckersley’s Art & Craft gift cards, Museum of Contemporary Art annual membership, Art Gallery of New South Wales annual membership, and more.
