Eyewitnesses, dashcam vision sought to Enfield fatal crash, NSW

Police investigating a fatal multi-vehicle crash in Sydney’s Inner West yesterday are keen to speak with eyewitnesses or motorists with dashcam vision of the minutes leading up to the impact.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Coronation Parade and Wynnstay Avenue, Enfield, about 9.40am (Saturday 9 April 2022), following a four-vehicle crash.

A 19-year-old Blakehurst man died at the scene after his Volkswagen Polo hatchback was involved in a crash with a grey Audi Q7 SUV, a silver Toyota Aurion sedan, and a white Toyota Hilux utility.

The driver of the SUV, a 45-year-old Belmore man, and his passenger, an eight-year-old boy, and a 33-year-old Campsie woman driving the sedan, were taken to Westmead Hospital.

The driver of the utility, a 26-year-old Mortdale man, was taken to St George Hospital.

All drivers have undergone mandatory testing.

Officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU), believe there were numerous people who may have information crucial to their inquiries, either as eyewitnesses to the actual crash, or motorists who may have been following any of the vehicles involved.

Investigators are especially keen to source dashcam or mobile phone vision relevant to the inquiry.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who can assist and who hasn’t yet spoken to police, to contact the CIU via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
