Trade and investmentopportunities in the Territory will be showcased when Chief Minister MichaelGunner leads a delegation of industry leaders to Canberra tomorrow.
The annual Facing North function willput the Territory and our economic opportunities before key decision makers inCanberra.
Representatives from more than 250Territory businesses are participating in the event, which is a collaborationbetween the Darwin Major Business Group (DMBG) and Northern TerritoryGovernment.
Thisyears Facing North event is strengthened by adding Forums and discussions onimportant Northern Territory job creating projects.
The forums willtake place over two days where the Territorys game changing industries will bediscussed with Federal Ministers.
Darwins ShipLift and marine services will be on the agenda with support gaining momentumwith the Australian Industry Defence Network NT backing the project.
The TerritoryGovernment has committed $100 million for the $400 million project at East Arm.Additional funding is being sought through the Northern AustralianInfrastructure Facility (NAIF).
Other forumdiscussions will focus on major job creating projects for Territorians, such asthe Darwin Cities Deal, Defence and National Security, Aboriginal Education,Natural Gas and Kakadu Tourism Development.

This is why the Territory Government is investingin job creating infrastructure right across the Territory. This is why we arepartnering with local business to deliver game changing projects. And this iswhy we are investing in not just our traditional industries of tourism,agriculture and mining but creating new industries like a space base,renewables and the Ship Lift.”
