A motorcycle rider has died after a crash in the states north.
Shortly before 7am today (Tuesday 22 September 2026), emergency services responded to reports that a motorcycle rider had been located deceased along Tuncurry Tip Road, Darawank, about 20km south of Taree.
Officers from Manning Great Lakes Police District secured a crime scene and commenced an investigation.
Inquiries have established that the rider – a 37-year-old man – struck a kangaroo which appears to have been killed on impact with the motorcycle.
As investigations commence police are urging anyone with information about the incident – or was in the area at the time with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage – to contact Taree Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
