As previously announced, the Speaker of the House of Representatives (Hon Andrew Wallace MP) received a letter of resignation on 22 February 2022 from Mr Nick Champion as the Federal Member for Spence.
With a general election pending, the Speaker has decided that writs will not be issued and a by-election will not be held for the federal division of Spence. This will avoid the necessity for the electors of Spence to participate in three elections within a short period of time.
The electors of Spence will be given the opportunity to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr Champion at the general election.
