Ferrari driver detected almost twice speed limit in Sydney’s west

In separate incidents over the weekend, the drivers of a Ferrari and a Ford Mustang have been charged after they were caught allegedly exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h in Sydney’s western suburbs.

About 10.50pm yesterday (Saturday 11 July 2020), officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting speed enforcement duties on Woodville Road, Old Guildford, when they detected a Ford Mustang allegedly travelling 134km/h in a marked 70km/h zone.

Police stopped the Mustang and spoke to the driver – a 25-year-old man – who was not the owner of the car. He was issued a $2520 infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.

In a second incident, about 1.00am today (Sunday 12 July 2020), Highway Patrol officers patrolling The Horsley Drive at Smithfield detected a white Ferrari F430 allegedly travelling at 116km/h in a marked 60km/h zone.

The driver, a 22-year-old man – who was not the owner of the car – was issued a $2520 infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.

Both drivers had their licences suspended for six months.
