Festival program to feature ‘dreamy’ installation

World-renowned interactive public art installation, Sky Castle by ENESS, will be a spectacular new addition to the 2022 Dubbo DREAM Festival; thanks to funding from the NSW Government as part of the Reconnecting Regional NSW Community Events Program.

“We’ve all been through a lot in recent years, so it’s important to invest in events that bring people together,” said Member for the Dubbo Electorate, the Hon. Dugald Saunders MP. “What better way to bring the buzz back to Dubbo than our very own festival of light! Sky Castle has brightened the skies of Melbourne, Shenzhen and Hong Kong – next stop Dubbo!”

Previously on display in Melbourne; Shenzhen; Hong Kong; Adelaide; Brisbane; Sydney; Brussels and Canada, the interactive public art installation features a cluster of inflatable arches that span in colourful symphony. From Friday 23 September through to Sunday 23 October, Sky Castle by ENESS will be showcased in Dubbo at two locations.

“The central themes of the DREAM Festival are to connect, celebrate and illuminate. Sky Castle by ENESS brings all those elements together, while providing the community with an international experience they might not otherwise see in a regional area.” said Mayor of Dubbo Regional Council, Mathew Dickerson.

From Friday 23 September to Sunday 9 October inclusive, Sky Castle can be experienced at the Heritage Plaza in front of the Old Dubbo Gaol before it moves to Victoria Park to join the Dubbo DREAM Festival event program from Thursday 13 to Sunday 23 October.

Dubbo Regional Council Manager Regional Events, Kim Hague, is excited that Sky Castle will be in Dubbo for the whole community to enjoy. “The interactive temporary art installation is live every day so the early risers can entertain the kids in the morning during school holidays or the shift workers can see its amazing colours on their way home at night. The dreamy, interactive sound and light installation of Sky Castle is a fantastic event for Dubbo and the 2022 DREAM Festival program.”

As guests move through the space, they will influence the sensory experience. “Their movement powers and progresses the melodic xylophone soundscape, stimulating colour changes in each arch. Light, colour and music have been orchestrated to evoke the joy and hope that rainbows bring after every storm,” said Nimrod Weis, Artist and Founder of ENESS. “As more people join the journey, the contemporary score crescendos in intensity creating a lush, orchestral piece that is different every night as it responds to crowd flow and fluctuations.”
