Film festival celebrating inclusion is coming to town and you can get involved

City of Port Phillip
Learn how to make a short film! We’re inviting expressions of interest from new and beginner or experienced filmmakers to participate in Community Access Film Fest.

Launching on International Day of People with Disability (3 December) this year, we look forward to delivering Community Access Film Fest. This online mini film festival will showcase a series of short films focusing on inclusion and belonging in Port Phillip . Eligible participants will be supported with tools and resources you can access when making your short film.

Let’s embrace a sense of community at the Community Access Film Fest!

Who can get involved?

People with disability, families, carers and advocates in the City of Port Phillip community are invited to contribute an original short film. This project celebrates inclusion and belonging within the local community and participation is open to people who:

  • live in the City of Port Phillip
  • work in the City of Port Phillip
  • have a significant connection to the Port Phillip community through regular volunteering, study or involvement with a Port Phillip-based community organisation.
  • have access to a device to use for the creation of a short film (for example, a smartphone or tablet).
  • are 18 years or over

How to get involved?

Expressions of interest open Monday 16 August to make an original short film focusing on the theme of inclusion and belonging in the Port Phillip. The online form will be available on the International Day of People with Disability page.

There are two ways to participate:

Online mentoring and group work

You can register your interest to participate in online mentoring and group work and receive support to develop skills and make a short film using a mobile device and have the film included in the Community Access Film Fest.

Create a short film independently

You can create a short film independently and submit the film for inclusion in the Community Access Film Fest. To be eligible for participation, you are required to register your interest by Wednesday 8 September 2021.
