Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said the now-complete design ensured residents and visitors would enjoy a world-class recreation venue when it opened late next year.

“It not only looks fantastic, but it’s also a great reflection of what our community and key stakeholders told us they wanted for the final design,” Mr Vatskalis said.

“This new centre will really change how people enjoy Darwin’s great outdoors, whether it’s a leisurely dip, learning to swim, training, playing with friends or just relaxing with family,” he said.

The facility is set to become a dynamic community hub that provides safe, accessible and healthy options for exercise and fun.

The final design includes:

– An eight-lane 50m pool

– A temperature-controlled, six-lane 25-metre Learn to Swim pool

– Resort-style lagoon pool

– Café and BBQ facilities

– Dry and wet play areas

– Basketball half-court
