Final week for Burnie Court EOI

Elise Archer,Attorney-General

Minister for Justice

With one week left before expressions of interest (EOIs) close, the Government is encouraging all interested parties to identify any new sites for the new Burnie Court Complex.

We have listened closely to the Burnie community and there is firm agreement from all parties that the current facilities are no longer fit for purpose and must be replaced, and also that the CBD is in need of revitalisation.

As we have said, it is important that all possible options are explored through this process, and therefore I strongly encourage anyone who is interested, especially property owners of potential CBD sites, to come forward so that these sites can be considered.

I would also encourage Labor’s Braddon members, Anita Dow and Shane Broad, to assist us and make sure they too are encouraging all relevant parties to engage with this process, particularly if they know of any potential available CBD sites.

The process is being led by Treasury in close consultation with the Department of Justice, and interested parties can visit www.tenders.tas.gov.au/OpenForBids/Details/5465 for more details.

The EOI closes on Wednesday, 18 May 2022. Following this, the Government will be in a position to make a final decision on the preferred site.
