Firearm and Explosives Charges

Organised Crime Squad detectives have charged a man after the discovery of firearms and explosives during a search warrant at a residence in Innaloo on Tuesday 28 April 2020.

Detectives executed a Misuse of Drugs Act search warrant at the Odin Road residence and it will be alleged a search of the residence resulted in the following items were seized:

– 2 x firearms (one loaded at the time)

– Over 900 rounds of ammunition

– 1 x firearm silencer

– 1 x stick of explosives

– Over $12,000 cash

– 1 x canister of OC Spray

– Drug paraphernalia

A damaged mobile phone was seized from a neighbouring property after the area was searched due to one of the occupants of the residence acting suspiciously near the fence at the time the detectives arrived. The phone was seized for further analysis.

A 31-year-old man from Innaloo has been charged with:

– 2 x Possess Firearm with Circumstances of Aggravation

– Unlicensed Person Possess Firearm/Ammunition

– Possession of Contrivance known as a Silencer

– Unlicensed Possession of Dangerous Goods

– Wilfully Destroy Evidence

– Possessed a Controlled Weapon

– Fail to provide and use adequate storage facilities to ensure firearms or ammunition safety

– Possession of Stolen or Unlawfully Obtained Property

– Possessed any drug paraphernalia in or on which there was a prohibited drug or plant

He was refused bail and appeared on the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday 29 April 2020. He is next due to appear in the same court on Wednesday 27 May 2020.
