Firearms and drugs seized, man charged – Strike Force Coradgery

A man will face court today charged with firearm and drug-related offences in the state’s central west.

In August 2023, officers attached to Central West Police District established Strike Force Coradgery to investigate drug supply in the Forbes and surrounding areas.

About 1.30pm on Friday (9 February 2024), strike force officers executed a search warrant at a home on Bilba Street, Garema, about 21km south of Forbes.

Officers located and seized, 8 firearms, ammunition, MDMA, cocaine, buprenorphine, drug paraphernalia cash, and 22 cannabis plants.

A 38-year-old man was arrested and taken to Forbes Police Station and charged with:

  • possess unregistered firearm-not pistol/prohibited firearm (x2)
  • possess firearm not stamped/engraved with allotted number
  • possess unauthorised pistol (x6)
  • not keep firearm safely not pistol/prohibited firearm
  • firearm found at premises subject to prohibition order
  • acquire firearm – subject to prohibition order (x2)
  • not keep firearm safely-pistol
  • possess prohibited drug (x7)
  • possess tablet press or drug encapsulator
  • possess prohibited plant >small &
  • recklessly deal with proceeds of crime.

The man appeared at Dubbo Local Court on Saturday (10 February 2024), where he was refused bail to appear at Orange Local Court today (Monday 12 February 2024).
