Firearms and lab equipment dumped at Wingfield

A man has been charged with firearms and drug offences after police located six firearms dumped at Wingfield today.

As part of an investigation into suspected firearms offences, Western District Police attended a Wingfield site this afternoon to conduct a search.

It will be alleged police located six firearms and items consistent with a clandestine laboratory. Examination of the firearms established that three were recorded as stolen.

Investigations suggest these items were dumped at the location earlier this morning, about 9.30am on Sunday 1 March.

About 3pm today, a 41-year-old Kidman Park man presented at the Port Adelaide Police Station where he was interviewed by police and arrested. He was charged with six counts of possess a firearm without a licence and manufacturing a controlled drug.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow, Monday 2 March.

Investigations are ongoing and further examinations of the firearms are to be conducted.
