Firefly Night Market Creates a Buzz at Australian Event Awards

Wyndham City’s free, Firefly Night Market in Tarneit has been recognised as Australia’s Best Small Event at the 2023 Australian Event Awards.

Held on 24 June, this event was delivered as part of the Tarneit Suburban Revitalisation Program in partnership with the Victorian Government.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Susan McIntyre, said she was delighted to see Firefly Night Market recognised at a national level.

“This national award is an incredible achievement and testament to the hard work and commitment of Council staff, the Tarneit Suburban Revitalisation Board and the many local artists, makers, community groups and performers who make this event so special.”

“This event is a real celebration of the Tarneit community, drawing in thousands of residents and visitors to experience different cultures and to support our local artists and businesses.”

“We’ve been thrilled to see the way in which residents and local businesses have embraced the market and really made it their own – the power of these collective efforts have created something truly remarkable”

“The success of this event also reflects strong collaboration with the Victorian Government and we thank them for their support of the Tarneit Revitalisation Program,” Cr McIntyre said.

“We are very proud of Wyndham City’s events and activations calendar, with national nominations also received for LIT and the Winter Street Party.”
