CFA firefighters battled a large grassfire at Graytown this afternoon (19/01).

More than 20 CFA vehicles are on scene along with water aircraft and DELWP personnel.
District 2 Assistant Chief Fire Officer Mick Hembrow said firefighters faced challenging conditions on scene with strong winds pushing the fire in a northerly direction.
“Crews were sent to Mt Camel Graytown Road for asset protection and a Watch and Act warning was issued to the Graytown and Moormbool West communities,” ACFO Hembrow said.
“Unfortunately a hayshed and machinery shed were lost in the fire but firefighters did a great job to save some houses in the area.”
The fire burnt approximately 200 hectares of land and was brought under control just before 3.30pm.
The cause of the fire is not suspicious and will be investigated further.
The Watch and Act warning was downgraded to an Advice message just after 3.30pm.
The Graytown and Moormbool West communities can expect to see smoke in the area for the next day or two.
Crews will remain on scene for the next 24 hours blacking out and ensuring the scene remains safe.
