First dry burst expected this weekend in Top End

BOM

The arrival of dry winds means the Top End will experience its first dry burst for the season this weekend.

Expect isolated showers across the Top End contracting to the north coast from Saturday.

Strong coastal winds are forecast from Saturday into Monday for southern Gulf of Carpentaria waters and southern Joseph Bonaparte Gulf.

Still in the Top End, there’s a slight increase in maximum temperatures, while a slight decrease in minimum overnight temperatures is forecast this weekend. The dry surge will flush out the humidity in Darwin and surrounds on Sunday.

For the south of the Territory, overnight temperatures are expected to cool down to single digits through central Australia. During the day, it will be mild and windy, with temperatures reaching mid 20°s for Alice Springs, 30°C for Tennant Creek – a couple of degrees below the April average.

Humidity is expected to return to the northern Top End early next week.
