Five youths in stolen car, South Australia

Five youths were arrested after a police pursuit in the northern suburbs in the early hours of this morning.

At 4am on Monday 9 March, a patrol spotted a stolen Hyundai sedan speeding along Main North Road, Elizabeth East. The police helicopter (PolAir) quickly moved into position and followed the vehicle as it headed south.

From the helicopter, police could see passengers being let out of the car on Lorna Road, Para Hills then the driver and remaining passengers tried to make a run for it near Dallas Court, Ingle Farm. Patrols and Police Dogs Zeus and Nero were directed from above by the helicopter crew and quickly rounded up all five.

The alleged driver, a 17-year-old Kilburn boy, was arrested on a nearby roof.

The other passengers include a 14-year-old girl from Port Augusta, a 13-year-old girl from Edwardstown, a 13-year-old boy from Elizabeth and a 10-year-old boy from Gawler.

Investigations revealed the car and car keys had been stolen during a house break-in a short time earlier at Redwood Park.

The driver has been charged with illegal use and engage in a police pursuit. Investigations are continuing into the group’s involvement in the break-in.
