Flood Information for Horsham and Natimuk

A severe weather warning has been issued for the Wimmera with heavy rainfall and flash flooding expected. The VicEmergency website will help you stay up to date: https://emergency.vic.gov.au/respond/

SANDBAGS FOR RESIDENTS
Council has stocks of sandbags that will be made available to properties at risk of inundation should a significant flood event arise.
These will be available from Council’s Selkirk Drive depot between 12noon and 5pm on Thursday.
Residents should bring proof of address to show their property is within the flood mapping zone.
People outside the flood mapping zone who need assistance will also be supported with sandbags if there is a real or likely flooding issue.
Flood mapping is available via the Wimmera CMA website.
*Note that the Horsham-Wartook 2019 maps are the most recent.

HORSHAM INFORMATION

Wimmera CMA has provided detailed flood modelling which has identified the houses at risk from over-floor flooding in the Horsham and Riverside areas. On this link, refer to the “Horsham Wartook 2019” flood study, for which maps are presented for different degrees of flooding. When the severity of flooding of this event is known, reference will be made to a specific map, e.g. the 1% map is commonly referred to as the 1-in-100 year flood.

NATIMUK INFORMATION

Flood modelling has identified 28 houses that are at risk of over-floor flooding at different flood levels. Sandbags will be available to properties identified via the SES. In the case of changing circumstance and/or declaration of a major event, sand and bags will be made available for people if they have a real or likely flooding issue.
