From Monday 3 August, City of Casey residents will be able to put food scraps into their garden waste bin so it can all be turned into compost!
In Casey, we are always looking to improve the ways we manage waste to best serve our growing community and look after our environment.
By collecting household food scraps and garden waste together, and turning them into compost, we can all reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
You don’t need to register for the service, your garden waste bin will automatically become your food and garden waste bin, and there will be no changes to the frequency or day of Casey’s kerbside collection services.
If you want to use your food scraps for home composting to help build your own nutrient-rich soil, you can apply for a rebate for a compost bin, Bokashi bucket or a worm farm as part of Council’s composting program.
These changes aim to better serve our community and make the service more sustainable, while also supporting the Victorian Government’s Recycling Victoria 10-year plan.
To further support changes with the state’s waste and recycling sector, Council also partnered with Cleanaway last year. You will soon see our new recycling and waste trucks collecting our community’s waste and recycling.
As bin collection times may occur earlier in the morning, please remember to always put your bins out the night before to ensure they don’t get missed!
