Footpath upgrades on way

Sections of footpath in Wonthaggi and Grantville will be renewed in coming weeks, as part of Bass Coast Shire Council’s Footpath Renewal Program.

The works have begun along White Road in Wonthaggi and along the Bass Highway in Grantville, with each project expected to take around four weeks to complete.

The $36,500 Wonthaggi project will see around 160 metres of footpath along White Road, between property 239-269 and Sherwood Court, removed and replaced with a 2.5-metre-wide concrete path.

The $18,000 Grantville project will see will see around 60 metres of footpath along the Bass Highway, between Pier Road and Wheatley Court, removed and replaced with a 1.5-metre-wide concrete path.

The aim of these works is to improve the accessibility and safety of Council’s footpath network.

As part of these projects, new concrete may be placed through landowner’s driveways. If this occurs, access to these properties will be restricted for four days, from when the concrete is poured. This is required to allow the concrete to set properly before any vehicles use the driveway. Landowners will be advised in advance of any works impacting on access.

We appreciate that these works may present an inconvenience to landowners and the community and the contractors will make every effort to minimise disruptions during construction.
