The matter was referred to the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad, who took carriage of the investigation.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 58-year-old man at a home at Maitland, about 7.15am on Monday 25 May 2020.

Police will allege in court that the man, who had been engaged to provide one-on-one basketball coaching to the boy, sexually touched him while performing massage treatment at two properties at Orange.

He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Orange Local Court today (Thursday 11 June 2020).
