Forward works will begin at the site of Western Australia’s new screen production facility located along Marshall Road, near the Malaga METRONET station precinct.
Works, which will prepare the site for the future construction of a screen production facility, include site establishment, surveying, fill, bulk earthworks and drainage, and are anticipated to be completed late next year.
A Problem and Opportunity Statement for delivery and operation of a screen production facility was released in an open market process by the State Government under the Market-led Proposals policy.
The State Government continues to assess Home Fire’s proposal through Stage 3 of the Market-led Proposals process.
Home Fire has withdrawn the concept of a creative industries hub at E Shed in Fremantle from its overall proposal.

As stated by Premier Roger Cook:
“Western Australia is already seeing a return on our Production Attraction Incentive investment, with filming of major productions like The Surfer, The Twelve and We Bury the Dead creating local jobs, enabling local skill development and showing off our beautiful State.
“My Government is delivering a range of economic diversification initiatives to set our State up for the long-term, and the development of this studio will cement WA as the place to film high-quality productions.”
As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister Templeman:
“Importantly, we’re now a step closer to having the infrastructure needed to take our screen industry to the next level, which will put us in an even stronger position to attract larger national and international film and TV projects to our State.
“The studio will have the potential to generate significant employment throughout its operations, plus other benefits from attracting more people into WA for accommodation providers, hospitality and transport.
“We’re very excited to see this project progress and continue building our screen production capabilities here in Western Australia.”

“Backing Western Australia’s film and television industry is all part of our plan to diversify WA’s economy and create new local job opportunities.
“The nature of the Market-led Proposals process can be complex and involve a number of different stakeholders and processes, and we’ll continue to work closely with Home Fire on their proposal for delivery and operation.”
