Four teens receive more than 80 charges

Four teenagers, who ran from two allegedly stolen vehicles in Dandenong on Friday, have been charged with more than 80 charges by Southern Metro Region Crime Team (SMRCT) detectives.

A 13-year-old boy from Hallam has been charged with aggravated burglary (x3), theft of motor vehicle (x3), burglary (x15), theft (x8), attempted burglary and commit indictable offence whilst on bail. He has been remanded by a bail justice to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

A 15-year-old boy from Narre Warren has been charged with aggravated burglary, burglary (x6), theft of motor vehicle (x2), theft (x5), attempted burglary, commit indictable offence whilst on bail (x2). He has been remanded by a bail justice to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

A 13-year-old boy from Narre Warren was charged with aggravated burglary (x4), theft of motor vehicle (x4), burglary (x8), theft (x6), attempted burglary, criminal damage and commit indictable offence whilst on bail. He has been remanded by a bail justice to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

A 14-year-old boy from Endeavour Hills has been charged with burglary (x2), theft of motor vehicle, drive in a manner dangerous, unlicensed driving and commit indictable offence whilst on bail (x3). He has been bailed to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

The charges follow their arrest in the vicinity of a carpark at Dandenong Plaza on Friday 3 June about 9.50am.

The teens ran from two allegedly stolen vehicles after police successfully deployed stop sticks bringing the two vehicles to a stop.

Enquiries by SMRCT detectives have revealed the vehicles were stolen during two alleged aggravated burglaries; one in Mt Eliza hours earlier and one in Berwick on Wednesday 1 June.

The charges also relate to a number of ongoing investigations by the SMRCT into a series of serious offending in the southern suburbs in preceding days.

The investigation remains ongoing.
