Fourth arrested in Wendouree for series of home invasions

Detectives from Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit have arrested a fourth person

following a series of aggravated burglaries in Hoppers Crossing and Wyndham Vale on 31 July.

The 27-year-old man was arrested in Wendouree this morning after a short foot pursuit.

The man was driving a stolen Holden utility west in Howitt Street just after 10am when it collided with a van at the intersection of Forest Street.

The Sebastopol man fled the vehicle and police arrested him in Forest Street a short time later.

He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

There were nine people inside the van at the time of the collision, none were seriously injured.

Two men and a woman were charged and appeared in court on 1 August in relation to the home invasions:

A 23-year-old Ballarat man was charged with 22 charges including aggravated home invasion, aggravated burglary, theft from motor vehicle, obtain property by deception, theft of motor vehicle, theft, criminal damage by fire (arson) and reckless conduct endangering life.

An 18-year-old Linton man was charged with seven charges including theft of motor vehicle, theft, reckless conduct endangering life, drive in manner dangerous, drive at speed dangerous and unlicensed driving.

An 18-year-old Sebastopol woman was charged with three offences including theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods and theft.
