Funding awarded to support young farmers and fishers

The NSW Young Farmer Business Program has announced 16 projects, aimed to create business and leadership opportunities for young farmers and fishers in NSW, will receive more than $134,000 in grant funding.

Deputy Director General of Engagement and Industry Assistance, Brett Fifield said the grants, of up to $10,000, will fund projects such as farm tours, commercial fishing business tours, workshops, events as well as coaching and training.

“The aim of the inaugural Vault Grant is to support formal and informal groups to deliver training and development opportunities to young farmers and fishers, locally and regionally in NSW,” Mr Fifield said.

“The Young Farmer Business Program created a Group’s Vault grant program to provide up to $10,000 in funding per group.

“Following a very strong response from across NSW, we were thrilled to see such a wide variety of topics and activities funded.

“The grant funding will help build capacity in these groups to consult their members and custom build something to meet their needs”
