Nineteen local community groups and organisations will share in more than $60,000 worth of funding with the allocation of Council’s Community Support Grants and the CASI Community Recovery Grants program.
The allocation of funding was endorsed by Council at a Special Council Meeting this week (14/12).
Central Goldfields Shire Cr Wayne Sproull said he was thrilled to see so many wonderful community groups and organisations benefit.
“Our community groups and organisations are the lifeblood of our community. Volunteer run, these groups are all working to deliver the best for our community – but often with a limited budget and a shortage of volunteers.
“We’re sure this funding boost will help these groups recover from the challenges of the pandemic and help reinvigorate their purpose as we head into a new year.
“I wish them all the very best for their projects and we look forward to the benefits the projects will bring to our community.”
The recipients of 2021 Council’s Community Support Program are:
- Talbot Farmers Market – Market revival and beyond and laptop and signage: $2,412
- Rotary Club of Maryborough – brand refresh for #SayNO2familyviolence: $2,675
- Maryborough Toy Library – finishing touches to relocation, shelving, iPad, kitchen appliances: $2,684
- Castlemaine-Maryborough Rail Trail – Better on a Bike – maintenance, repairs and safe riding: $2,000
- Mill House – End of Year Celebration Lunch and Friday feasting: $3,011
- Talbot Town Hall Committee – Town Hall Market improvement, laptop, mobile phone and stall markers: $2,164
- Maryborough VRI Croquet Club – hot water service and water tank: $3,194
- Carisbrook Football Netball Club – new 1200 litre upright lockable freezer project: $2,000
- Talbot Senior Citizens – indoor bowls mat bowls and bowling arm: $3,615
- Maryborough Netball Association – entertainment and gathering area picnic table: $2,615
- Dunolly Community House and Mill House – community luncheons: $3,175
- Dunolly Vehicle Club – club communication equipment, laptop, printer and dongle: $1,000
- Carisbrook Historical Society – portable book scanner: $824
- Maryborough Family History – purchase domain name and build website: $695
Funded by the Victorian Government’s Community Activation and Social Isolation program, the CASI Community Recovery Grants Program aims to support people to feel a greater sense of belonging in the wake of the pandemic.
The recipients of the CASI Community Recovery Grants Program are:
- Committee for Maryborough – Maryborough Community Festival: $6,000
- Maryborough Netball Association – recruiting new umpires: $2,960
- Maryborough Volunteer Resource Centre – promotion and marketing materials, laptops, website, uniforms, name badges and signage: $8,004
- Mill House – new commercial stove for kitchen: $9,839
- Talbot Arts and Historical Museum – celebrating our past and our futures – re-opening the Dunach School Building: $3,542
