A month-long festival starting today that showcases the spectacular Gondwana Rainforests will create jobs and support local businesses, thanks to funding from the Morrison Government.
The Gondwana Festival program will feature guided walks, wildlife experiences, kids activities and a Segway Safari to promote the spectacular, World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests.
Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz said the festival would shine a spotlight on south-east Queensland’s magnificent Scenic Rim region and support local tourism businesses and jobs.
“Tourism in this area has been hit hard by fires and COVID-10 and this festival will bring visitors back to the region and inject money into the local economy, continuing the area’s economic recovery,” Mr Buchholz said.
“After a very tough year, this spectacular tourism destination is well and truly open for business. I’d encourage people to plan a trip to the festival and experience one of the country’s most magnificent natural wonders.”
“I am pleased to see funding from the Australian Governments regional tourism bushfire recovery grants program delivered locally to support the regions recovery from the devastating bushfires.
Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan said the Gondwana Festival was another reason Australians should book a holiday.
“We want Australians to book a holiday in their own backyard to support jobs and businesses in our tourism sector,” Mr Tehan said.
“The Gondwana Rainforests are home to some of the world’s oldest ferns and conifers, more than 200 species of rare or threatened plants and animals, and beech trees up to 3,000 years old so I encourage Australians to make a visit to the stunning Scenic Rim as part of their next Queensland holiday.”
