Homicide Squad Detectives investigating a fatal fire at a Backpackers hostel in East Perth during the early hours of Friday 13 December 2019, have laid additional charges against a 39-year-old man.
On Friday 20 December 2019, detectives laid the further charges of:-
• One count of Murder (relating to the death of a 44-year-old woman at the hostel); and
• Five counts of Acts Causing Danger ( relating to the hospitalisation of five persons for smoke inhalation as a result of the fire).
The 39-year-old man who was a resident of the hostel is next due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on 26 February 2020 on all charges.
