  • An additional $11.6 million investment to build an offsite early learning facility for Brabham Primary School
  • Facility will accommodate up to 350 students in kindergarten and pre-primary
  • McGowan Government delivering new public school infrastructure in Western Australia

The McGowan Government has invested a further $11.6 million to construct an offsite early learning facility to support families of young children at the growing Brabham Primary School.

This latest funding, which is part of the 2023-24 State Budget will take the total investment to $15 million. The new facility will include classrooms, a kitchen and storage facilities, cleaner’s room, external storerooms, and a new undercover sandpit.

The modern offsite facility will alleviate accommodation pressures at Brabham Primary School, which continues to experience increased enrolments.

The $18.5 million Brabham Primary School opened in 2021 and currently has more than 1,000 students.

A new primary school, Brabham East Primary School (planning name), will open in 2025 to further relieve enrolment pressure from the school.

The first stage of construction of the offsite early learning facility is expected to be completed for the start of the 2024 school year with the second stage of construction expected to be completed for the 2025 school year.

Stage 1 will accommodate up to 160 kindergarten students in 2024 and Stage 2 will accommodate a further 190 pre-primary students from 2025.

The McGowan Government continues to invest in new and improved public school infrastructure in Western Australia.

As stated by Education Minister Tony Buti:

“The McGowan Government is committed to delivering the best education facilities in which to support students and their families.

“This additional funding will ensure the growing Brabham Primary School has high quality facilities to support student learning and give young students the best possible start to their education.”

As stated by Early Childhood Education Minister Sabine Winton:

“The early years of education are so important to the development of children and I’m pleased these new facilities will benefit so many families in this growing area.

“Starting kindergarten is an important milestone and it’s exciting that our youngest students in Brabham will soon be able to play and learn in new facilities.”

As stated by West Swan MLA Rita Saffioti:

“I know there is significant pressure on our schools, which is why this investment is so important.

“Our community is growing rapidly, and I will continue to advocate strongly on behalf of my constituents, to ensure we have facilities in place that can support young families.

“Along with the new primary school in Brabham East, our Government is making significant investments that will ensure we ease the pressure on our schools and deliver better outcomes for our kids.”
