Rural and regional communities across Australia are sharing in $11 million investment in local drought leadership through the Future Drought Fund’s (FDF) Drought Resilience Leaders program.
Minister for Agriculture and Northern Australia David Littleproud said 35 participants were selected for the North West Slopes and Plains region of New South Wales.
“Participants from this region will go through leadership development, with a drought focus, facilitated by the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (ARLF),” Minister Littleproud said.
“They will then be able to apply for funding to undertake projects to build community resilience to drought, putting their new leadership skills to work.
“This is one of 12 regions the Future Drought Fund is working in to build a cohort of drought resilience leaders: the program has already hit the ground running in Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia, with applications still open for regions in Queensland, Tasmania and the Northern Territory.”
The participants were selected after a competitive application process for leadership development through a mix of residential and remote training.
