New data released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reveals Australia’s gender pay gap is at the lowest level since records began, at 11.3 per cent.
Under the Albanese Government, Australian women working full-time now earn, on average, $325.5 a week more than May 2022.
Women’s economic equality remains at the centre of the Albanese Labor Government’s economic agenda, with practical measures delivering stronger wages, greater financial security and a fairer future for women.
The Government has supported increases to the minimum wage, invested in sectors including early childhood education and aged care, expanded Paid Parental Leave and introduced superannuation on Paid Parental Leave, all while delivering further tax cuts for working Australians. Together, these measures are helping to close gender gaps in pay and retirement savings, strengthen women’s economic security and ensure women have greater financial independence throughout their working lives.
