Geoff Ellis elected as new Councillor for Bass Coast Shire Council

Geoff Ellis has been elected as a Councillor for Bass Coast Shire Council, after the Victorian Electoral Commission conducted a countback of votes from the previous general election following the resignation of Bruce Kent last week.

Mr Ellis will be officially sworn in on Monday 14th August prior to the next Council Meeting on Wednesday 16th August.

Mr Ellis was previously a Councillor at Bass Coast Shire Council from 2016 to 2020.

Mr Ellis will be representing the Western Port ward and is heavily committed to issues within the environment, reconciliation, fair treatment of asylum seekers, inclusion of our LGBTQIA+ community and engagement of our less-abled community members.

Working positively with his fellow Councillors, Mr Ellis believes they can build on ‘what’s strong’.

“We are pleased to welcome Mr Ellis back to Bass Coast Shire Council where he has worked with many of us previously.” said Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor, Cr Michael Whelan.

“Mr Ellis has made a fantastic contribution to his community over the years, and we congratulate him on this appointment.”
