- Chapman Road Shared Path in Geraldton is now open for public use

Stage two of the Geraldton Cycling Network Expansion Project is now complete, providing Geraldton locals and visitors an easy way to walk, wheel or ride to school, work, local shops and recreational precincts.
Stage two included the construction of a 3.5-kilometre, 3-metre-wide shared path along the western side of Chapman Road, providing a continuous link between Corallina Quays and Glenfield Beach Drive.
The $1.8 million project forms part of the State Government’s $4.9 million commitment to expand Geraldton’s cycling network, which will see the local network expand by 8.3-kilometres.
Stage one was completed in 2022 and saw a new shared path constructed between Hillview Drive and Chapman Road.
Stage three is currently at design phase and will see a shared path constructed along Brand Highway from Tarcoola Beach to Cape Burney.
As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:
“Delivering better connected towns and cities is a top priority for our government and it’s fantastic to see another important project delivered for the people of Geraldton.
“This new 3.5-kilometre shared path will provide people of all ages and abilities with better access to key services and amenities and explore the area in a more active and engaging way.
“The Geraldton Cycling Network Expansion Project is a priority initiative under the Geraldton 2050 Cycling Strategy and is 100 per cent funded by the State Government as part of its Cycling Election Commitments Package.”
As stated by Geraldton MLA Lara Dalton:
“It’s fantastic to see another important milestone delivered in our expansion of the Geraldton cycling network.
“Better connecting our city with more shared paths was an election commitment for our government and to see the expansion rolling out is an exciting outcome for our community.”
