Gold Coast police cracking down on organised crime

Minister for Police Mark Ryan has commended Gold Coast police on a string of recent arrests targeting Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMCG).

Last week, a Southport Mongols OMCG associate was arrested and charged with a string of drug offences.

A 38-year-old known associate of the Mongols OMCG was arrested last month for dangerous driving and possession of a firearm.

Officers from Taskforce Maxima also charged an alleged member of the Finks OMCG, after search warrants resulted in the seizure of firearms, ammunition and dangerous drugs.

Minister Ryan said the Gold Coast’s Taskforce Maxima and Organised Crime Squadhad been targeting and arresting offenders.

“Under the Palaszczuk Government, Queensland has the toughest anti-organised crime legislation in Australia,” he said.

“I’m advised by police there are currently no active bikie clubhouses known to Queensland Police.

“Police are arresting the bikies and disrupting their organisations.

“And the results prove that.

“Our outstanding police are taking tough action and arresting these outlaw bikie criminals.”
