A $110,000 grant from the Tasmanian Government’s Strategic Industry Partnership Program has delivered an important new tool for farmers.
The Voluntary Code of Practice for Nutrient Management was developed by TasFarmers in conjunction with Government agencies, strengthening Tasmania’s sustainable farming credentials and supporting water quality across Tasmania.
Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Gavin Pearce, said the guide has been developed by farmers, for farmers.
“This is a practical, industry-led guide to help our farmers manage fertilisers and nutrients more efficiently,” Minister Pearce said.
“Fertiliser supply and increased costs have been front and centre over the last few months.
“This guide will serve as an important tool for our farmers, providing clear-cut guidance on how they make sure their fertiliser goes the distance.
“It also emphasises the value of planning, record-keeping and continuous improvement, helping our producers remain well-positioned for positive long-term outcomes, even amid fertiliser supply uncertainty.
“I want to thank TasFarmers for their continuous work right across our Ag sector, and all they continue to do for our primary producers.”
