Grants blitz back by popular demand

Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience

The grants blitz team is being expanded to meet demand, with specialised flood recovery assessors returning to Lismore next week, along with a second team setting up shop in Casino.

Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience and Minister for Flood Recovery Steph Cooke said the two teams are being deployed to continue connecting residents and business owners with financial assistance.

“I’ve received so much positive feedback about the work conducted by grants assessors in week one of the grants blitz. The sessions held in Lismore since Monday have resulted in the approval of more than 175 grants applications totalling $2.1 million,” Ms Cooke said.

One local resident who received support from the grants blitz team was a 40-year-old Lismore man who previously lived at a caravan park, and is currently in emergency accommodation.

Resilience NSW and Service NSW staff travelled with the man to his caravan to take photos of the damage because he didn’t have a mobile phone or email account, resulting in approval of a Back Home grant.

“The 45 minute face-to-face appointments help to walk people through the process of applying for grants and supplying the documentation they require to have an application approved,” Ms Cooke said.

“Grant assessors from Resilience NSW, Revenue NSW and Service NSW will be available to assist with each of the seven available grants for individuals, households, business owners and primary producers.”
